First Friday Storytime

Patrons of all ages with developmental disabilities are invited to come to this storytime, held the first Friday of each month at 10 a.m.

Fourth Thursday Book Club

You're invited to attend our adult book discussions in 2014. The discussions are held at 1 p.m. in the meeting room on the 4th Thursday in January through October and the 3rd Thursday in November. There is no discussion in December. Discussions are held in the library conference room. Click the title or read on for the list of 2014 titles.

Get creative and win prizes

The Rensselaer Library is doing a special ‘Spark a Reaction’ art contest for teens this summer. This is only open to teens signed up for summer reading.

Grand prize will be a cool, funky art set. There will also be prizes for runner-up and 3rd place.

Health Screenings

All three locations of the Jasper County Library have partnered with local care providers to offer free or low-cast health screenings each month for patrons. Usually free, special services may be offered at some locations for a small fee.

Lapsit Storytime

Age 1

Enjoy 30 minutes of reading, songs, fingerplays, and socialization with other 1 year old children and their caregivers. Each half hour long session of Lapsit Story Time consists of a variety of activities, such as music, stories, toys to play with and other fun movements.

Library Kids

Ages 3-5

Preschoolers are invited to become a “Library Kid” as we share stories, songs, crafts, finger plays and other age appropriate activities during a three week session of Story Time for ages 3-5 Registration is required.

Library Lego

Ages 4-14

Love building or creating things? Love bright shiny colors? Love Legos? Kids age 4-14 are invited to create Lego shapes each month during Library Lego, a club held at the DeMotte Library each month.

Make-It Take-It

Grades 4-6

Come to the DeMotte Library the second Tuesday of every month from September to April (except for December). Join us for crafts to take home relating to the month's theme.

Milk & Cookies Story Time

Ages 2-5

Are you unable to attend our monthly Monday story times at the Rensselaer Library? Have no fear because we’ve got you covered. One Saturday a month we will be hosting a unique story time that features traditional story time mixed with technology and constructive play time. Open to ages 2-5. Morning Movies at Wheatfield

This program, free and open to all interested adults, is held at 10 a.m. on a Thursday every month. It is usually the last Thursday, but winter holidays and other events can cause it to be a different one.  A variety of movies, newly released to DVD, are shown.  Popcorn and beverages are served.
