Special Days in February

February is always the shortest month, but it's also a busy month! Check out the list of holidays and special days going on this month to learn something new, or maybe discover a new favorite book.

American Heart Month. Check out the American Heart Association's Activities for Kids [5] page and learn about nutrition, your family health tree and more!

National Children's Dental Health Month. Read a book about teeth [6]. Draw a picture of what you think the tooth fairy looks like before March 15 and enter it in the "Be a Tooth Fairy Hero [7]" contest sponsored by Tom's of Maine.

National Bird Feeding Month. February is one of the most difficult months for birds because berries, seeds and nuts are scarce and the spring hasn't arrived to provide new ones. Learn how to make your own bird feeder [8], bird food or bird house, with parental help. Check out a book about birds [9]!

Word of the month: Gargantuan: Of immense size, volume or capacity; gigantic. Cody went to the library and checked out a gargantuan stack of books.

2 Visit Groundhog.org [10] and learn all about Punxsutawney Phil - America's official groundhog -- and watch him predict the weather with a live webcast on Groundhog Day!

3 Celebrate American football on the 47th annual Super Bowl Sunday [11].
