Twenty years is a long time, but the older I get the faster time goes. Time flies; that is the phrase used when we can’t fathom how quickly the days have passed. For example, I remember when the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling was introduced, and became such a hot item that the reserve list was as long as my arm. Well, I’m short, but the list was really LONG.
The month of April honors the poet in all of us, and so we celebrate with National Poetry Month all month long.
The month of May has many holidays and specially designated days to its credit, not the least of which is ‘National Lost Sock Day Memorial Day’ on May 9th.
It’s March, and there is so much to celebrate! As Dr. Seuss, one of my most favorite of authors would say, “You’re off to great places, today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, so get on your way!”
What’s in YOUR wallet? This is a question asked by a popular celebrity on a current TV commercial advertisement. In our house the question happens to have more to do with what’s in your pocket than what’s in your wallet.
When ‘ugh…’ is the best word that you can come up with to describe your feelings about a situation, you know it’s not good. I am referring to Old Man Winter, of course, which could be described with these words: rain, sleet, snow, blow, repeat, all with temperatures that could freeze an Alaskan.
Christmas is for kids. Making lists of their heart’s desires and dreaming of all the presents under the tree consumes them in the month of December. For adults, I believe it’s all about the food. Great meals and sweet treats; that’s what the month of December is about for adults, and it turns out that for once, I am right!
Sometimes it’s hard to separate fact from fiction. We’ve heard the term ‘fake news’ frequently of late, which leads us to believe the catch phrase, “Believe only half of what you see and none of what you hear.”
Alas, the weather is turning colder; that means it’s time to break out the long sleeved shirts & sweaters, blue jeans and wear real shoes, not flip flops.
