The Jasper County Public Library would like to thank the community for the success of this year’s Summer Reading Programs! These programs would not be possible without the donations received from local businesses and organizations, the volunteers who help each week, and the excited patrons who participate!

Preschoolers who enjoy attending the Jasper County Fair are invited to take a break and hear stories and participate in other age appropriate activities during “Story Time at the Fair,” offered by the Children’s Department of the Jasper County Public Library.

School is out and summer vacation is just starting. But as Phineas and Ferb tell us, there are only so many days to do all the stuff there is to do before school starts this fall.

Don't sit around the house this Summer; sign up for Summer Reading at your local Jasper County library. You'll get the chance to win cash or prizes, as well as take part in some cool teen programs.

Entertainment for the entire family has arrived at the Jasper County Public Library in the form of Playaway View, an all-in-one video player that is ultra-durable and comes pre-loaded with only the best in kids’ video content.

From flowers to covered bridges to hot air balloons, Terri Ulbrich sees the beauty in everything around her through the lens of her camera. Family and friends depend on this talented photographer to capture special events on film, and Terri never attends special occasions without bringing her camera along.

Celebrate National Library Week April 14-20

This week, Jasper County Public Library, located in Rensselaer, DeMotte and Wheatfield, joins libraries in schools, campuses and communities nationwide in celebrating National Library Week, a time to highlight the value of libraries, librarians and library workers.

If you love movies (and I do!) when you go to the movies one of the best parts, at least for me- are the trailers for the upcoming new movie releases.

September is National Library Card Sign Up Month, and in honor of this special occasion, all three branches of the Jasper County Public Library will be celebrating throughout the month by offering a small prize to everyone signing up for their first library card with JCPL.

All year long the library has programs for book lovers of all ages, from infants to seniors. These programs are so ever-present that we just take them for granted. When do you have story time? Oh, there will be a new one any time now.

This year’s “Dream Big, Read” Summer Reading Program for kids and “Books for Bucks: Own the Night” Summer Reading Program for teens were both a huge success, and we’d like to take this time to congratulate the prize winners for both programs.

If you haven't heard about the farming video taking the country by storm this week, now is your chance to watch "I'm Farming and I Grow It," the viral parody of LMFAO's annoyingly catchy dance hit "I'm Sexy and I Know It."

Own The Night is the Teen Summer Reading Program this summer at all JCPL libraries. Now is the time to visit your local library to sign up, pick up reading packets, read the various rules, and get started Reading!!

In June we are launching new circulation rules that we think will be welcomed by patrons of all ages. We are extending loan limits and renewals on some of our most popular materials just in time for the lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer.

If you have imagined a Jasper County full of walking, horse and bike paths, you are not alone.

This spring, representatives of Jasper County Economic Development, the National Park Service and the Northwest Indiana Regional Plan Commission held public meetings around the county to solicit input from citizens as to where and what those paths might look like.
