Indiana plants and history

If you are looking for native Indiana plants, or Indiana history, there are two new resources you can check out online.

The nationally-recognized Indiana State Digital Archives has new digital collections available for anyone interested in Indiana heritage and genealogy. The Digital Archives enables Hoosiers and researchers worldwide to view the vast collection of historical and vital records housed at the State Archives.

Check it Out! More books to movies!

Every so often I enjoy scouring the internet to see what books are being made into movies.  I love coming across titles that I’ve already read and finding ideas for ones I should read before I see the movie.

Underground Railroad

The Underground Railroad was a pathway to freedom for those held in the bondage of slavery during the 1800’s. Formed by ordinary people, this extraordinary secret passageway brought escape from a world of oppression to many.

Information Blackout

Today sites around the internet are either shutting down for 24 hours, or have altered their logos in some way to draw attention to two bills pending in the U.S. Legislature this year.

Don't Delay; check Out These New Fiction Titles!

I have been dragging my heels, with a serious case of writer's block keeping me from starting this article. As I read back that first sentence, it occurs to me to wonder how in the world I could be dragging my heels when I'm actually sitting down.

Tax Forms Starting To Arrive

The first tax forms and booklets are starting to arrive at the library, and more shipments are expected in the coming days.

As in previous years, we may not have the form you need, and we cannot advise you as to which form you need, but if you know the form number, we can print it for you from the Internet at 10 cents per page.

A time to remember

If you missed seeing the movie based on Kathryn Stockett's The Help earlier this month at DeMotte, there is another showing Tuesday Jan. 10 at 5:30 p.m.at the Rensselaer Library and Thursday, Jan. 26 at 10 a.m. at the Wheatfield Library.

Last Weekend for Seuss Exhibit

If you wanted to take a trip this weekend, there are worst places than Chicago, where it's the last weekend for the Dr. Seuss & The Art of Invention exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry.

The Art of the Personal Touch is Alive and Well at JCPL!

"What's shakin', bacon?" I love that Progressive Insurance commercial. There stands a woman, buying insurance from Progressive, and hovering in the background are her current insurance agents, who not only can't remember how long she's been a customer, but can't get her name straight even after she says it out loud.
